Vaidyanathan (Vaidy)

Director, International Business Development

Vaidyanathan (Vaidy) worked as a "Senior Commercial Specialist/Advisor" with the U.S. Commercial Service (USCS), an arm of U.S. Department of Commerce, at the American Consulate General, Chennai - India. He has completed 25 years of distinguished service with the U.S. Government and has acquired the skills of international marketing, trade promotion, Advocacy and international business counseling. He has over 35 years of international, and industrial marketing experience that took him to leading economies to advance the commercial interests of U.S. companies and the U.S. government.

He has helped many U.S. companies, U.S. universities and Indian companies, Indian educational institutions, creating business opportunities for them, advocated their businesses in Asia and in the U.S. He has also showcased their products in many trade shows, both in Asia and in the U.S. He was part many important international industry teams - Project and trade financing, Infrastructure, environment, energy and textile teams in addition to being part of India team that promoted the federal government program - Select USA - that attracts investment in to the U.S.

During his 25 year service with the U.S. Government (USG), there were many success stories, involving many joint ventures and U.S. exports worth millions of dollars. He intensely worked with local trade chambers to forge alliance with other national chambers of commerce, thus paving a way for one to one business functional contacts. He continues to make excellent contacts both in the governments and private/public sector.

Vaidy had worked with other USG agencies such as USAID, US Information Agency, and National Technical Information Service, prior to joining USCS. Vaidy is a graduate in science and has specialized in Industrial marketing, project, and commercial program development. Vaidy has completed export counseling training in Washington DC. Vaidy did a unique TDY in Washington DC, which provided him insights to Multi-lateral development bank operations and its programs to help identify business and major project opportunities for US firms.

Vaidy has organized and led many trade missions, delegation visits and facilitated numerous USG officials' visits, including that of Presidential and secretarial visits and received various appreciations and awards. He has also received U.S. government's international award for supporting U.S. environmental exports.

He and his team of experts would be a great value addition to small and medium sized companies, planning to reach global markets.
